Akismet is a free tool that keeps web spammers at bay. Spammers often use tactics such as comments on your site to advertise their products or link to malicious sites. When a comment, trackback or pingback occurs on your site, Akismet runs a series of tests to see if it is genuine. Akismet also features an API that can easily integrate into your application.
