Ruby on Rails Developer
Kayla grew up just outside Mt. Rainier. Since then, she’s lived in big cities and remote villages, in the US and abroad. After traveling the world, she realized her heart is in this volcanic landscape and is thrilled to be back.
As a child, Kayla was drawn to making any kind of craft she could get her hands on friendship bracelets, latch hooks, rock polishing — you name it, she’s probably tried it. This craftiness turned digital when she was introduced to yearbook club and played around with early versions of the Adobe Creative Suite.
While studying Documentary Production at Ithaca College, she was introduced to web development and experimented with projects to combining tech and storytelling. She worked as a film producer for a few years, but couldn’t quiet her curiosity for programming.
When she's not working, Kayla is probably knitting a sweater, hiking on Mount St. Helens, testing a new recipe, or watching old movies in one of Portland's awesome independent cinemas.
Don't let your mind give into your mind.
