William Mena
he/him
Software Developer
Every mature application has a list of decisions nobody has had time to make properly. William is the one who gets to work on these!
Some of it is replacement work. A gem is unmaintained or fighting the rest of the stack, and the question is what to put in its place, which means finding the option that fits the environment it's actually going into rather than the one with the best documentation. Some of it is making an application faster and lighter, which means tracing where the time and the memory are actually going before changing anything.
Eight years in, he has worked on web stores, insurance platforms, and payment systems in places nobody expects to find one. He came to Planet Argon from another consultancy where the clients were health insurers, and to software from media, where he did 2D animation and video editing for PBS and Telemundo.
Off the clock, he's a Knicks fan, and he's still celebrating their 2026 NBA championship!
An essential aspect of creativity is not being afraid to fail.
