Ben has worked in the tech industry since 2010 and has worn many, many hats: blogger, web designer, web developer, technical producer, scrum master, technical project manager, copywriter, and more. He loves all parts of the software development lifecycle and always has a creative personal web or mobile app humming along outside of work.
Ben’s management philosophy is rooted in the idea of servant leadership. When leading an engineering team, he understands that the best outcomes occur when he removes his ego from the equation and focuses on making sure his developers feel supported and the client feels heard. He loves people as much as he loves tech and takes great pride when his team completes a dazzling new feature or fixes a particularly flummoxing bug.
Ben grew up in Southern Oregon and got his B.A. in English from Willamette University in Salem. He moved to Portland in 2005 and has no intention of leaving. With all the great food, fun people, and nearby outdoor activities, he can’t imagine living anywhere else!
All of us who professionally use the mass media are the shapers of society. We can vulgarize that society. We can brutalize it. Or we can help lift it onto a higher level.
