Nike – 2006 World Cup
We were subcontracted for the development of a Content Management System, which allowed Nike to manage press materials for their 2006 World Cup PR website.
Sticky subcontracted Planet Argon during the spring and summer of 2006 for the World Cup. Our team was responsible for developing a content management system to allow their PR team to publish press material for the teams that Nike sponsors. Additionally, Planet Argon developed an asset management package that allowed Nike to upload almost fifty gigabytes of print-quality images and convert them into a dozen different shapes and color tints, which automated a process that Sticky would manage manually in the past. This package saved Nike money when they decided to change the color tinting right before project launch and our system was able to reprocess them after making a one line adjustment to our color tinting settings.
A further addition to the CMS, was a translation management tool, which allowed the contracted translation companies to have individual logins to the application and manage the translated content themselves, without needing to have Nike handle this. Nike’s PR department was only responsible for the English version and upon any change of content on the site, the corresponding translations would be considered out-of-sync and the translation company would be notified to update the appropriate content on the system. This included versioning, which allowed the translation company to focus on the specific changes, rather than have to review all the content for each article on the site.
